Recenti indagini svolte sul Lago di Mergozzo testimoniano la ricchezza della fauna ittica di questo piccolo ambiente lacustre. 19 specie di pesci vivono nelle sue acque pulite e cristalline.

L'agone ( Alosa agone ), il coregone lavarello ( Coregonus lavaretus ) e l'alborella ( Alburnus alborella ),  specie ittiche con elevato valore ecologico e naturalistico "onorano" il lago con la loro presenza nella zona del pelagica.
